The Enduring Legacy of Kevin DuPree
For 30 years, Kevin DuPree carved a path as a trailblazer and founder of the wealth management firm DJM Financial.
Fearless, diligent, driven, and a voracious learner, one of Kevin’s greatest missions in life was to make the future better for his family, his clients, and his DJM Financial team. Most of all, he was a trusted financial advisor with vision and commitment who cared deeply about his clients and shared in some of their dearest dreams and deepest financial concerns.
In the beginning of his career, Kevin joined Northwestern Mutual after graduating from California State University, Long Beach, with a B.S. in political science. He started out in the industry as a Financial Representative in 1992 and later became the District Managing Director in Irvine, California. From 1997 to 2005, Kevin launched one of the top field offices in Los Angeles and was recognized as the leading field director at the firm. With a tireless work ethic and boundless energy, Kevin returned to Irvine to build a financial team focused on taking care of clients for generations to come.
In 2006, Kevin partnered with Mike Jacob to open the firm that is now known as DJM Financial. His extensive knowledge and experience in management, training, supervision, and development significantly contributed to the firm’s success. Using a multi-generational approach, he developed a comprehensive wealth management practice with built-in succession planning long before most advisors did at that time. At his core, Kevin believed that if DJM could provide peace of mind to clients, they could focus on what is most important to them. He felt he had a calling to raise people up and wanted to create a business that impacted his community in a positive way.
As a business mentor, Kevin played an integral role in helping his team members believe that they could reach their greatest potential in life. He lived his life by his core principles of loyalty, integrity, family, and faith. Through hard work and determination, Kevin and the DJM team built the practice into the premier wealth management firm that it is today.
Kevin passed away in March 2021, but his legacy of helping people turn their financial dreams into realities, and protect the financial future of their loved ones, including his own family, endures. He will be missed by his friends, colleagues, clients and family. He leaves behind his loving wife, Evelyn, and their three children, Kolton, Kailah and Kendall. Always lending a helping hand to those in need, Kevin proudly served on the Board of Directors for the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation of Orange County and supported many other charitable organizations.
